January in the Books

Well we have finished up January for 2013 and now look at our schedule for Feb and Mar. All in all we had a good start to the year so far, but is a marathon not sprint to the finish line. We started out at the membership rodeo in Marana, John placed both days, I had one 2nd place finish. Then we headed to Lake Havasu rodeo, what a rainy wet mess but it was fun. John rode both days at Lake Havasu, riding in the mud and rain. I started the weekend at Buckeye then headed up to Lake Havasu for the Sunday perf. John finshed 5th overall in the money there. I ended up winning Buckeye, luckly the arena is covered there cause it rained all day and was chilly. I was so happy to be in a covered arena. When I got to Lake Havasu the arena was a soup bowl, but it paid off it seemed to help the horse to stack up right there and not cover a lot of ground, I ended up placing 3rd overall at Lake Havasu. Our good buddy Trevor was picking up, he used to spur down bucking horses but moved to calf roping and picking up at rodeos. He’s a good hand to have around,, but I told him I was going to come at him like a spider monkey once the whistle blew, well at the end of my ride I forgot and just stepped off, so I guess I will have to get him at the next one… I will be heading up to Wickenberg in a few weeks for the SPRA rodeo, then off to Lost Dutchman days at the end of Feb. Then the plan is go to Scottsdale, Ft Mohave and Queen Creek really looking forward to them. As of right now to start the year off, Im leading the SPRA standings and GCPRA standings int the Bareback Riding. So I accomplished my goal for January, now on to Feb. As the year starts its always good to get it going in the right direction. John has been busy being the new Bareback riding director for the GCPRA, which so far has been doing a good job. Well until next time, take a deep seat, get that far away look in your eyes and let er buck.
