Spring 2018

Well its Spring 2018, been awhile since I have been on here. What a year it has been so far lots of rodeo’s all the guys seem to be taking care of business and working towards the next level.

We just finished up with the spring run which included lots of college rodeos for us and the bull. The guys have been running around hitting any rodeo they can get into lately. With all that said its been a crazy spring so far and keeping caught up is the name of the game right now. Overall not much has changed we have been busy bucking bulls, spurring horses and looking for the next good time. Few of the guys have been have taken on some extra responsibility this year, for starters, Shane was elected to the GCPRA Board of directors for the bareback riding. Brandon has opened up his own side business which has kept him hoping around like a bunny. Marco has been rolling on with his bull riding. Kayleb moved to Texas for college rodeo’s. Wyatt has been making it tough for the rest of the bull riders to win money. Chance has been keeping busy between getting on broncs and occasionally talked into entering the ranch bronc riding here and there. Long but quick story but he got it done on the ranch bronc riding side of things. JT has been busy working and well getting talked into helping run bulls around. Things are starting to get back to the good ol days of just rodeo after rodeo and the guys doing what they do best beat em for the money when it counts. I will get a more in-depth post up soon just been way over the top with keeping up with everything. Found out the hard way its no fun changing flats with a trailer full of bulls on the side of a busy highway. Well we are off the next one CottonWood AZ ranch bronc and bull bash, then we roll into bagdad AZ for the GCPRA and get ready for our fourth of July run. From what I have been hearing sounds like we have guys entered from northwest to the southwest. Until next time take a deep seat, get that far away look in the eye and let the good times roll!

2017 Review

As we finish up the last few weeks in 2017, here is a quick review of the year.  All the guys are already making plans for 2018. In the Bareback riding Shane Morin finished 4th for the year, the Bull riders had a great year Wyatt Austin finished 2nd, Kayleb Erwin finished 7th and Marco Diaz finished the year just outside the top 10.

Here are some photos of the year Enjoy!

For the 232 it was a great year for the riders and the stock, 503 Needles won bucking bull of the year. They won the first round at the GCPRA finals on our little bull Botta Bing.

With all the rodeo’s over the last year, we also got to see some of the guys start there own new lives out side the arena, Chance’s wedding in March. Brandon Smith with his new welding business, doing fencing, too anything you need done.

Chance’s wedding with the little  man!

We all got the privilege to do another goat roping at Skippy’s for a fundraiser for little girl who is battling Leukemia at 2 years old. Having a 2 year old I can not imagine going through something like that.

The community came out in full force to make the event successful and show there support.

Finals Around the Corner

Well we all finished another year on the trail, it was full highs and some lows, but was well worth it, every bit of it.

Benson ended the GCPRA run in Arizona. Our youngest cowboy little Owen went 90 pts to kick of the event then Shane cracked out and won the Bareback riding. Hunter placed 3rd in the bull riding. Benson is always a great time to spend with family and friends, always a good one to end the year on. Everyone is a little bit loser and ready to let their hair down  some. Now we all look forward to the finals next month as every prepares to hit the practice pen, gym and well in my case look at feed for the bulls.

232 Ranch will be taking 8 bulls this year and we are excited about being part of the GCPRA Finals again. To be part of a great state run organization and have the high light of the year be the finals is always something to shoot for.

Shane is going in 5th in the Bareback riding, he also qualified for the Northwest Pro Rodeo Association Finals in September and the Idaho Rodeo Cowboys Finals in early October. He had a great year filling his pockets. Won enough to buy a $100 car to keep motoring on.

The bull riders have really torn it up this year, with Hunter sitting first, Wyatt going in the number two spot, with a $1000 difference between the two. The Finals has enough added that anyone can have shot at the year end title. The Bull riding might get a little interesting with two good friends battling it out. Kayleb is going in sitting 5th and Marco coming in the 15th spot. Both Marco and Kayleb had to sit out some rodeo’s towards the end due to some injuries but both will be ready roll come Finals.

Now we all get to catch our breaths and most of all heal up. Finals should be packed full of some great runs and scores this year. Stacked line up in all events, which always makes it good watching down to the last ride.

Hope to see you all at Fort Mohave this year, if not may your travels be safe. Until next time let em roll.

Summer Heating up

Getting ready for the end of June run into the fourth of July. This weekend, we got few of us running in different directions across Arizona and the country.

Start off with the 232 Bulls heading to Seirra Vista Bull Team Challenge put on by Where they Buck, Wacey Barta. Looks to be a good time for sure, the bulls are looking good and need some exercise before the fourth of July run up north. The bulls will be in Show Low, Taylor and Springerville, not only will the contestants be looking to get out of the heat, but I’m sure the bulls will enjoy some cooler weather as well.

Shout out to one of our new members who joined the group in January Hunter Kelly for winning the Arizona High School Bull Riding State Championship last weekend. He went in leading the state, won the average and walked out #1 going into Nationals in July. He has proved hard work outside the arena pays off inside of the arena. We all will be rooting him on at Nationals to walk out a the National Champion, it will be good watching. He completed his first goal of winning the state title now he sets his sights a little higher to leave his mark. Good luck Hunter!

Shane cut out of the heat to head up north to rodeo in the cooler weather. Worked his way to South Dakota, Montana then over to the Oregon. He has a big run planned for end of June and over the 4th.

Carter hit the trail to the cowpunchers reunion in Williams this weekend to pick up in the ranch bronc riding. I believe himself and daughter will be entered in the team roping, looking to get buckle out of there together.

Chance has been playing a cowboy down at the bar boot helping out Kevin. He also has not missed any jack pots along the way. He had one of his good horses go down, this last weekend. Never good when having to put one down, he had run of bad luck there limped home on three trailer wheels cause a bearing burnt up and horse down. I would have to say he has better days. But he is ready to roll to rope over the fourth.

Maco and Kayleb new members to the group have hit a little of hot streak in the bull riding. They have been entering anywhere they buck bulls to get ready for the fourth of July run up north.

Brandon has been busy working, getting a few buckers here and there. He also has been busy getting things taken care of before he hits the road hard in a few weeks. Has a big run planned for the fourth with Britt, double up on enter fee’s to double up on winnings! I do believe they will have there pockets full when they head home.

Been a pretty quiet spring for us this year, but everyone is chomping at the bit to get on the road and rodeo. Hope everyone has a successful run this summer, winning fist full of dollars, keeping the western way of life alive! Until next time nod big for the win!

The year has really just flown by for 2017 so far. Its a been a crazy few months lots of great things, great rides and new additions to the group. Finding a place to start is a little mind blowing on my end, so please bare with me as I may be jumping around a little. But lets start with the one of the guys Ol’ Chance Stone tying the knot with Breann Chambers on March 18th. What a amazing wedding to be part of, it was truly awesome for all of us to be part of their special day.

In early March we held a fund raiser event for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. A good ol fashion goat roping. Big shout out to Skippys and community of Queen Creek helping the event be even bigger than we imagined it would be. The night was full of laughs, roping, and a little naa naa from the goats but it was a blast. Thank you to everyone who came out to the event to be part of it. The part that humbled us all was being at the Children’s Hospital, I can say for my self it left impression I will not forget.  Those are kids are the bravest and most courageous little ones I have ever met in my life. We got the tour of the facility and the money raised goes to the hope side for the game room that Garth Brooks has donated to build for these hospitals. As Shane said we put on a fun event so the kids could have fun. The game room has so many things in it for those kids for all ages, live TV to play bingo for the kids who can’t leave there rooms. Gives them the opportunity to interact with the other kids in the hospital. We all where blown away with the thought and time they have put into making those kids life’s so enjoyable they hopefully they forget why they are in there. It was something that I will never forget. One little guy remarked the doc rubbed some medicine on my leg, it all good and I’m ready to go. The whole experience left a impression on us for the rest of our lives. I would recommend to anyone to get involved for day or a hour or two, it will leave a impression that you won’t forget.

March was also filled with lots good rides from the guys. Shane Morin got the split for the win in globe. Cody Collet got scholarship to Las Cruces NM to rodeo. Brandon got promotion and has been slowly working his way back into the arena. John has been entering rodeos all across the country and we look for him to have another great year in the turquoise circuit. We also added a few Bull Riders to the team this year. Hunter Kelly and Kayleb Erwin, they will be rocking the 232 Ranch Shirts this year at rodeos. We are looking for big things for them in 2017.

As we move deeper into 2017, I will do my best to keep up with the blogging and pictures, just been busy but still no excuse. Look for a update next week after we get back from Needles, CA. Until then take deep seat, get that far away look in your eye and the let the good times Roll!!!!!

Summer Adventures

As Aug starts to wind down, things have been moving right along for the guys.

Last weekend at the Welcome Home Ranch, Gilbert AZ Anndee White set up a rodeo clinic for the Bareback and Saddle Bronc riders. We all where lucky to be part of the clinic and help teach the next generation of rough stock riders. In the Bronc riding it was Steve Dolarhide and Justen Washburn, in the Bareback riding was Larry Sandvick and myself. Carter Williams, Trevor Haught and Cody Demers picked up at the school. But also provided valuable insight to what they do out there to the students, showed them what they look for and see, to help kids get a better understanding. We had a mix bag of steers riders to older guys just out of high school wanting to start. Larry provided extra equipment to students that needed it from Wildman riggins. Justen and Steve did a great job with bronc riders, pretty hard not learn from those guys. Milo Dewitt brought some great stock for the students to learn on. Jason Keith provided a pen of steers for the steer riders. Denise Mcginley provided all the sports medicine with the students and spent some time with each group discussing stretching, staying in shape and what she and her team provides. What I got the most enjoyment out of was seeing the smiles out of the students and wanting to learn more. A big thank you to everyone who cam out, from the guys in the ArizonaWildbunch, Chauncey Kirby, Jaydon Ray, Dillon Jenson, many more and most of all the students that came out to put it on the line to learn. A big thank you to the GCPRA for supplying a free membership for 2017 for the top student. This year’s top student went to Heath in the Bareback riding, who will be cracking out this winter.

The guys all had a great summer run, from the fourth to today. Everyone is spread out again, Shane up is up in Cody WY trying to qualify for there summer series finials, John is out and about getting all the last rodeo counts in to qualify for the All American Series, Chance and Brandon have been chasing those white lines and taking care of business along the way. The guys have been working to hard to full fill some personal goals this year and they are very close with the fall rodeos around the corner.

The bulls have a had a few weeks off and should be ready to roll at the bull riding in September for Cowboy for Causes in Tucson. Then its 4 weeks straight of rodeos they will be bucking at.

The summer has been full of some memories and great times that’s for sure. Looking forward to the cooler weather around the corner this fall and some rodeo’s.

To steal something I seen on facebook earlier, hope your summer has been nothing short of making memories and stealing tales. Hopefully see you all down the road this fall making your own memories. Until next time keep your chin tucked and your spurs high.
